Working in pairs, we had to create six different photographs, based around one topic of our individual choice, the PowerPoint we were shown helped in explaining the shots we had to take and the topics we could chose, (Week 8, 18th March Uni workshop) . I wanted to explore colour, something I have always had an eye for. I have some background in photography so I was not worried about how my skill could affect this task. Because I wanted my photographs to be popping with colour, I edited all the images in Photoshop, some of them I just adjusted the warmth and contrast, which brightened up the colours that were already present, I did this for the Long-exposure and the perspective images. The silhouette image was quite difficult to edit, since there was a lot of objects behind Kristine, who was posing for the photo, I had to lighten the background but darken the area around and on Kristine, which was tricky but turned out well in the end. Frame within a frame is an idea both me and Kristine liked, using my instant camera I took a photo of her with the flowers in front of her face and then with the digital camera, did the same pose, holding up the instant out in front of her slightly. In the final edit I decided to just have the flowers in colour, since they were the main attraction in the photo and should then hold the focus of the audience. The shallow depth of field image had the colours slightly altered since the flower was quite pale, so I needed to emphasise the colour that was present, this also helped sharpen the shape of the flower aiding it in being focused. For the final photograph, reflection, the original image was quite dull, so I changed all of the colouring in the image. The original pink flowers became yellow and everything else in the image took on a yellow/green tint. I experimented with different colours to see what worked best for the image, what was more appealing and catches people’s attention.
