My name is Holly Davison, and I am a performer and theatre-maker with a passion for writing and directing. I am soon to graduate from York St John University with a Drama & theatre BA (Hons) and I hope to start studying a Creative Writing MA, starting in September.

“Life is a tragedy to those who feel, and a comedy to those who think.” – Moliere. This quote resonates with me deeply, as, like theatre itself, life is about perception. I want to create theatre that educates, challenges, and provides humor inclusively. I aspire to continue making theatre that is thought-provoking, yet comical. Comedy has always been my means of escapism and I wish to allow audiences to leave a society where it is too easy to get warped up in a world of negativity, to leave their troubles at the door, and become fully immersed in art. I want imaginations to run free and make endless possibilities. I want to find the humour in places you would never think.

I believe that my work as a theatre-maker, and also as an actor is important to each other, as I have found that creating and refining my practice in one of these areas have benefited my learning in the other. Having opportunities to create theatre both independently and collaboratively at York St John inspires me to pursue further as a theatre maker, to achieve my goal of touring performances around the UK or abroad in non-traditional theatre spaces to allow new and different communities to experience theatre.
