CASE FILE #4 WE ARE THE PROFESSIONAL NORTHERNERS
in February, myself and the rest of the collective took part in a scratch event in York showcasing some of our previous independent projects. After the short performance pieces, we were referred to as a bill of professional northerners. This was fitting. Almost too fitting?
There are clear northern routes in our work.
We’re all northern.
We’re all very northern when we perform. We play on the Northerness of being from the north and being northern.
We operate like a professional theatre company.
interrogating interrogation we did, but in conjunction we were always interrogating the northern essence we can bring into our work, which we have effortlessly done prior to this commission.
Heightened versions of ourselves.
As a collective we have performed together or worked on the same project multiple times and our practices have grown from sharing our worlds and friendships with one another. We have grown to be confident and critical with one another, but always sustain respect for each other when forming our work.
