Short Film- Applied Production

This is my last and final artefact which is a five-minute short film, this was a 72-hour challenge, this is about three murders in three different locations, this short film is about a detective named Rob who tries to discover why the murders are connected and who murdered the three people. For the set locations, as my role was production design, (Iakovleva, 2016) ‘ Great production design is an aid to storytelling, mood, aesthetics and is an integral part of your film. A professional production designer is someone that is responsible for the visual presentation and artistic concept of a film.’ This made me focus on the certain locations that we needed. I had to make the colours and clothing fit to the feeling of the scenes we needed/wanted. We had a risk assessment with many hazards as of the three locations that we used, for one, it was a set scene that was for; tripping and falling over wires and equipment, another was outside which would be; weather, although it was raining and actually worked best for the scene, we also had tripping and falling as it was of the wires and we did not know what the weather would’ve been like, as it was wet, this worked, as the crew could have slipped as well as the public falling over wires. There are many things that could have been done differently, for example; we didn’t work extremely well as a group, so figuring out times and who would do what and then other people not doing what they were meant to do was difficult but in the end we made it work and solved it. For our equipment set up, for the compulsory scene, we used four different lights to set the scene and had the actor stand underneath one as she paces about, this gave a daylight effect on the set.
