Download Festival to Return to the UK in June
The iconic rock festival, which takes place at Donington Park, is to return to the UK from the 8th to the 10th of June.
In the past Download has been graced by the presence rock legends such as Metallica and Iron Maiden and this year is no different. This year also acts as a blast from the past as 80’s rockers Guns & Roses and Ozzy Osbourne will be headlining the festival.
Joining them as a headline act are the more modern, yet still held in a high regard in the rock music scene, Avenged Sevenfold.
This year, as is tradition, the festival organisers behind Download have also announced a fancy dress theme which is to be ‘supervillains’.
Tom O’ Grady, (above, left), is no stranger to the fancy dress theme of Download Festival and this year will be his fourth year in a row that he will be attending Download.
Tom, 19, believes that the festival has a “family vibe” and that although rock music has dark connotations, “Download is hands-down the most friendly festival I’ve been to.”
There are other features about the festival besides the musics that Tom believes to be appealing. “I think that the camping part of the festival is another reason why it is such a fun experience.”
He adds, “there are so many different things to do when at Download as there’s everything from a tattoo parlour to a wedding chapel. It is the thing that i spend my entire year looking forward to.”
There are day tickets available for the festival for those who do not like the idea of camping or who are busy at the time. On the other hand, for those that do want to camp, there is the option to purchase a full weekend ticket and arrive as early as Wednesday the 6th of June.
