Review of Kindred by Octavia Butler

I would highly recommend reading Kindred because the way that Octavia Butler uses time travel as a way to explore the contemporary effect of slavery is truly unique and thought provoking. The narrator, Dana, suddenly travels back in time where she saves her ancestor from death. Not knowing how or when she will return to her own time, she must adapt to survive the violence and danger of the plantation alongside her ancestors.
