Alcohol-Free York 

While York isn’t shy of bars and nightlife, there is so much more to get involved in. One could make the case that Alcohol-Free York is even more enjoyable. So, delve into the list below of some fun things to do during your time in York. With so much to do, the hardest decision will be where you’ll go first. 

The Hole in the Wand 

Fancy yourself as being the next Tiger Woods? Or an avid wizard fan. Then Hole in the Wand located in Coppergate Shopping Centre is just the activity for you, where you can take on nine magical holes. After the nine holes, you can also enjoy a cauldron cake or have a delicious potion in the tavern below.   

York Chocolate story 

Discover the history of York’s iconic chocolate brands right in the centre of York. From Terry’s chocolate orange to the infamous KitKat. You can also take part in chocolate workshops and create your own truffles.  

Clifford’s Tower 

Experience stunning views across York’s city centre as well as the history of one of York’s most iconic sites. Hear stories and sounds of the towers past and get up close in the rooms. Part of the English Heritage, you can either buy a membership to visit hundreds of sites or just a one-off visit.   

JORVIK Viking Centre 

One of the most popular visitor attractions in York. JORVIK Viking Centre takes you through Yorks Viking history. After the discovery of many Viking artefacts in the 70s it enabled the centre to open and spread the word about this historic city.  

Rainbow Ceramics 

Rainbow Ceramics is a pottery painting activity which allows you to pick from a range of pottery starting from £12. Pick it, paint it, collect it. Simple. This is a great activity to get together with friends whilst having a catch up. Once painted your designs will be ready to collect in just one week after it has been glazed and fired. 

National Railway Museum (Free activity) 

With free entrance into the museum, you can find out more about locomotives and engineering brilliance. You can also take the road train to the museum for only £3.50 to visit to and from the museum.  

The Dungeons 

York Dungeons tells a 2000-year-old story of York’s dark history, with 10 live actor shows. You can meet York’s most famous characters including Guy Fawkes, Vikings and Isabella Billington.  

Fish and Chip City Cruise  

Enjoy a 90-minute cruise ride sailing through York with the finest Fish and Chips. Throughout the cruise, there will be music as well as live commentary from the captain before returning back to land.
