Day in the life of a YSJ student

Hi, I’m Amy, a third year primary education student at YSJ and i’m here to let you into my life and show you what a typical day in the life of a YSJ student looks like!

My day always begins with a coffee. I love making my coffee to go as I have my breakfast so I have something to enjoy whilst in my classes. It’s a rare occurrence if you find me in my first lecture or seminar of the day without a coffee at my desk – this little sense of routine helps keep me organised and motivated – as well as giving me energy on those early morning starts.

As a primary education student, I have classes pretty much every day, which may have annoyed me at first, but I soon found it was a great thing to keep me active and prevent me from accidentally spending half the day asleep in bed….

I am a big fan of getting any homework or reading we are given out of the way, as well as keeping on top of my assignments by doing a little bit every day, and also keeping home and school separate by getting all my uni work done, at uni! So a lot of the time when my classes finish, or if I have any long breaks, you will find me in the library – often with various beverages and a pomodoro timer to motivate me to work.

One of my guilty pleasures and something I maybe have a bit too often, is a NEO pizza from the YSJ canteen. The YSJ chips may be my favourite chips ever to exist, they are so cheap (especially if you get a plate not a takeaway container) and the NEO pizza meal deal with a pizza, chips and a drink for under £4 sucks me in every time I have a lunch break at uni.

One of my favourite things to do, and something I often do with my NEO pizza, is go on a wander round York either in my breaks or after my day at uni has finished – YSJ has got to be one of the best situated unis in the country, being right next to town, and the city walls – I love, love, love to take advantage of this and drag my friends on walks round the city – sometimes we catch sight of a wild viking too….

After my tea and a relax, on Wednesdays and Fridays you will most likely catch me preparing for a night out – rip Revs, but Manhatta does the job providing a good time, and of course a Salvos Friday is the only correct way to end the week – I am a lover of a boogie in the club, but always remembering to cut myself off at midnight because I have work the next day 🙁

My night out ends, without fail, at maccies. The only place to end the night right.

I hope you enjoyed spending the day with me, no two days at uni are ever the same, but everyday is a good day is you let it be 🙂
