CALL FOR PAPERS
‘Diversifying Knowledge Hierarchies’ - Knowledge and Power in Social Justice Research.
Researchers are looking to construct methodologies and explore ideas of what knowledge is and who ‘owns’ it. Decolonisation, lived experience, visual knowledge, non-verbal knowledge, indigenous knowledge, situated knowledge, all cultivate an understanding of how to know, do and learn differently. Therefore, this year we would like to welcome proposals that consider how researchers promote and are, ‘amplifying multiple and diverse forms of knowledge’.
Social justice is the view that everyone deserves equal economic, political and social rights and equal opportunities. At the Institute for Social Justice, we aim to engage people, partners and communities in a manner that sees participation, implementation and change as vital parts of its mission. We believe that by sharing, collaborating and listening we can achieve more, and would like to call forward proposals from any Postgraduate research candidate (PhD or MRes) whose work reflects this.
Whether you are just starting out, or are almost completing, please get in touch to share your work. Slots will be allocated for 5- or 10-minute presentations depending on the speaker’s preference.
Expressions of interest in the form of abstracts should be between 100-200 words describing an outline of your research, its connections to social justice and your preferred length of presentation. Making Waves will take place in-person on 13th June. The deadline for entries is the 26th April 2023. Please email submissions to r.berding@yorksj.ac.uk.
