Developing resilient behaviours among perfectionistic junior athletes
Project Lead: Sarah Mallison-Howard
Student as Researcher: Danny Biggs
Perfectionism can often be seen as a ‘double-edged sword’ that may help athletes achieve success; but on the other hand, could damage their motivation, performance and well-being. A factor in protecting against the negative effects of perfectionism is resilience; however this is yet to be studied among younger athletes. This research project aims to address this issue and establish how resilient behaviours may be developed among perfectionistic young athletes in sport.
Danny Biggs will be working alongside Sarah Mallison-Howard and Mustafa (Nottingham Trent Uni), to contribute to the management of the research project through literature, developing a questionnaire and/or interview schedule, data collection and data analysis.
