Back to the future: The career transition of military migrants
Project Lead: Kweku Adams
Student as Researcher: Geoffery Ntem
This project will involve producing a paper that examines the reflective accounts of military migrants’ and why they joined the British Army, in addition to pre-entry stories on how they entered careers in society outside of the Army. Geoffery Ntem will be transcribing and proofreading data from pre-recorded interviews of commonwealth military migrants who now reside in the UK, alongside helping towards the analysis with Kweku Adams.
The paper will discuss the implications for theory and policy, focusing on how different groups of migrants rationalise their choices and employ unique forms of identity that have been influenced from their previous, professional employment, and how this can become a barrier in their civilian way of life.
