Adam Walsh –

I am currently a second year Journalism Student at York St John University, my studies predominantly surround the multi-media platforms of Journalism today and the skills required to conduct myself in this environment.

Law and public affairs as well as real-time news days have been the focus of this academic year, this has meant that I have been able to study the legal side of reporting and gain news room experience. Working in a number of roles, including that of editor, has given me a real insight into how the news room operates on a small scale.

Having had the privilege to help with the beginning of “theyorkie”, our courses new news website has allowed me to have more of my recent work published in an online forum, including the audio from “YorkieRadio” programmes that have been published over the last few months. As well as this I had the opportunity to help run a radio programme “The Pointless Debates Show” last year, which not only being a great deal of fun, was also an enormous insight into the technological side of radio.

This course has helped me to develop my real passions of writing, photography and editing skills over the course of the past two years, some of examples of which can be found on this site.
