Life after York St John – Alumni Stories, Mike Archer

Whenever we send out our newsletter, we offer our alumni the chance to get in touch, and share any experiences and stories they have, with us and other alumni.

Following our recent newsletter in February, former YSJU student Mike Archer got in touch, to share with us, and you, what he’s been up to since graduating in 2007.

image“I studied Theatre, Film and Television Production for three years, gaining a solid foundation of knowledge, that I have built on ever since. Upon graduation, I have continued to shape a career in entertainment, becoming a working actor and a producer/director.

I relocated to London to pursue being an actor. In that time, I have built up a body of work including “The Kings Speech” (Weinstine Company) “Easy Virtue” (Ealing Studios) “The Genius of Turner” (BBC).  In 2011, I founded my own production company: Old Lamp Films Limited to develop a slate of feature films. I successfully completed our first funded short project in 2013 which we hope to debut at Cannes. When I look back, I know my time at York St John opened my eyes to the possibility of what I was capable of achieving with hard work and focus.”

Thank you Mike, for sharing this with us. If you’d like to find out more about what Mike has been up to, and his journey since leaving YSJU, please take a look at his personal website.
