Oh Brother, Where Art Thou?

Not so long ago, an enthusiastic Old John contacted the Alumni Office, hoping to arrange a reunion. It’s 25 years since he left York St John and, full of hope and excitement, he wanted to contact his former classmates to meet up and commemorate the occasion. But, as much as we wanted to, we weren’t able to help him get in touch.

You see, we have a case of the lost Old Johns.

From the arrival of just one student at our opening on May 17th, 1841, through to a September 2015 intake of almost 2,500 students, tens of thousands have called York St John their home. It is sad then to think that, unfortunately we may have lost touch with many of our graduates (particularly those from pre-2010 where contact details weren’t automatically updated at graduation).

So, if you are reading this and you suspect that you may be one of these elusive Old Johns, who have lost touch with us over the years, then there’s an easy way to rectify that, and there are plenty of good reasons why you should do so.

Register for the York St John Alumni Society and:

  • Take advantage of regular updates on news and events,
  • Access a range of benefits and services from both inside and outside the University,
  • Receive direct support in helping organise and promote a reunion (where we can, of course!).

If you’re not receiving our newsletter or other emails from us, then the chances are that we don’t have your current contact details. You can fix that right now by updating your details here.

Now that we’ve found you…

We can let you know if one of your former classmates wants to get in touch! This is how reunions happen.

The more complete and accurate our alumni records, the more connected our network is, and that can only make us better at supporting you, our alumni. Don’t leave us calling ‘where art thou?’ We’re immensely proud of our alumni, and don’t want you to ever feel like we’ve forgotten you.

If you have any questions about Alumni membership, or perhaps have some suggestions about what you think alumni membership should include, and then please get in touch, we always welcome your input. Email us at alumni@yorksj.ac.uk, or phone on 01904 876741.

Thanks for reading, until next time.

Billy
