The final countdown….

It’s September, Autumn has officially begun (in meteorological terms), and while many people will already be reminiscing out the brief spell of good weather that is now behind us for another year, a great deal of people at York St John, have their eyes firmly set on the start of the new academic year, and the return of our students.

While many people, are enthusiastically awaiting the arrival, of a new cohort of fresh faced first years’, it’s November, that is in the forefront of our minds in the Alumni Office, and the upcoming Graduation Ceremonies. For many students, graduation signifies the end of their journey through Higher Education, and the conclusion of their relationship with the institution they’ve come to know as home for the last few years, but this could not be further from the truth.

Instead, graduation represents the start of the next stage in a student’s relationship with their institution. At York St John, this is time that completing students officially become an Alumni of the University, and in doing so, join an exclusive membership, that includes every single person, to have ever studied under the name York St John and it’s associated colleges, since the institution opened in 1841.

Although a great deal of our alumni live many miles from York, they are never forgotten. With the ever evolving nature of the internet, staying in touch with the University, and with former friends, is now easier than ever. More than 22,000 York St John alumni, are signed up to receive our quarterly e-newsletter, and we continue to receive more correspondence than ever before, from former students wishing to arrange a reunion, or to share an update about significant events in their lives.

With a host of new alumni benefits to be announced soon, a wide range of events to attend, and numerous ways to stay in touch or get involved in what we’re doing, there has never been a better time to be an alumni of York St John.

If you want to find out more about how you can share your story with us, or how you can sign up to receive our newsletter, then e-mail alumni@yorksj.ac.uk

Thanks
