Inspiring Minds

If you are interested in a career in teaching, then it is essential that you have some experience working in a school environment. The Inspiring Minds Project is a great opportunity to get that valued experience and will get you ahead of all the other aspiring teachers!

The Inspiring Minds Project’s aim is to work with a local Primary School to deliver interactive sessions with a group of primary aged children. These sessions will be planned, prepared and run by you with the help of the teachers. There are two modules that you can choose from: Myths and Legends, which is an arts project, and Heathy Humans, which is a sports project. They are looking for students from all degrees, as they are looking to have a diverse group of talented individuals!

The Myths and Legends project is looking for 12 members to deliver five sessions based around myths and legends in the classroom. There is also a planned trip outside of the school to reflect the theme of the module which you will help plan. If you think you are up to the challenge and want to get involved, then head over to the Jobs and Opportunities page and get applying. But hurry because the deadline is the 19th of November!

The Healthy Humans project is looking for 6 members to run five sessions based around healthy living and deliver these in the classroom! ‘Students as Dementia Friends’ Champions

This project is designed to combat the poor understanding around Dementia. There is limited knowledge of how Dementia can affect many different people in different age groups – and so this project is designed to help educate the public and help break the stigma.

They are looking for inspiring students to become Dementia Friends Champions. As a Champion, you will run information sessions based at York St John University, in the York community and with local employers. You will work with a team to share stories with other people and work together to improve how Dementia is spoken about in large companies.

If you are passionate about helping other people, have a drive to improve the lives of those living with dementia, as well as being a great communicator, then this opportunity is perfect for you! Head over to the Jobs and Opportunities page and get applying! But hurry because the deadline is the 12th of November!
