Using and interpreting quantitative approaches |
Melanie Douglass |
This session is designed to familiarise colleagues with the basics of quantitative statistics. It will focus on the difference between descriptive statistics, which describe the overall sample and what a ‘typical’ score looks like, and inferential statistics, which allow you to test hypotheses. By the end of the session, participants should be familiar with key terminology and should be able to read and interpret results sections of published research articles.
Note: Participants are encouraged to bring along to the session an article relevant to their work/interests.
|
Analyse the quantitative methods used in articles relevant to your area of study and consider how working with a colleague on including quantitative aspects might enhance your own research study. You could also develop your approach in this by collaborating with a colleague in a Learning and Teaching Partnership for 21/22 |

By the end of the session you will be able to:
|
Choose a cohort with which to consider the different approaches to address gaining attention and engagement and your raction to it.
