SoLL students and staff explore Englishes in the world at York Festival of Ideas 2019

Held annually, York Festival of Ideas offers a range of events from inspiring talks and exhibitions to performances in York. Contributing to this year’s Festival of Ideas were a group of academic staff and students from the School of Languages and Linguistics. Titled ‘exploring Englishes in the world’ the aims of their series of talks and presentations were to showcase the vitality of Englishes around the world and to address and contest traditional notions around the ‘ownership’ of English.
