Semester one module: Japanese

ヨークセントジョン大学へようこそ! Yoku sento jon daigaku e yokoso!

Before starting the course;- if you are at beginner’s level, please familiarise yourself with Hiragana and Katakana (writing script) as much as you can. You can also start learning greetings, how to count numbers in Japanese. It is a good idea to build up your vocabulary in Japanese too.

– if you have studied Japanese before, please review what you have done, and polish up and develop your skills. We’ll have a level-check test in the welcome week.

We will use Genki (3rd edition) on our 1st year of Japanese modules, so you can study on this textbook too during the summer, if you wish

There are many textbooks/ online materials available for studying Japanese. If you don’t know where to start, have a look at the following links.
