Graduate: Rachel Dry

English Language & Linguistics BA (Hons)

Graduated in 2015

Currently an EAL Teacher in the UK.

”I really enjoyed the wide range of modules on the course…

It allowed me to find a specific area of interest having experienced many elements of the discipline. From sociolinguistics and multilingualism to first language acquisition. The lecturers are clearly research led and are actively adding to the field which is a fantastic resource to have as a student.

”After graduating in 2015, I taught English in Switzerland and Spain before returning to the UK to complete a Master’s degree at Newcastle University in Applied Linguistics and TESOL…

I then began working at independent schools in the UK as an EAL teacher. I currently hold this role at the moment at an independent school in the Midlands.

”I also set up the YESOL project, which as Rachel Wicaksono tells me, is still running….

Following the CELTA I decided to set up free community classes in order to continue teaching after completing the CELTA course. I believe it has since gone online during the current climate but I’m so proud that it is still functioning! A great opportunity for those who have completed the CELTA to keep up their teaching practice and get experience before applying for jobs.
