Language Disorders

Certain disorders can be overlooked as listeners label the features as simple errors that language learners make. If a particular habit occurs significantly, or something is seeming to take a lot longer than it probably should, alert a higher member of staff who can look into perhaps allowing the child to undergo diagnostic tests to determine if a disorder is present.
If a student is from a third world country, they may have had a previous disorder in their own language that hasn’t been picked up on, or the money hasn’t been available to diagnose and treat. Click through the subheadings of this page to see some of the more common language disorders.
