Moodle Monday: Moodle 3.0 – What’s New?
It’s not a whole new Moodle; it’s just the best Moodle yet.
The Technology Enhanced Learning team and Information Learning Services will be working hard over summer to upgrade Moodle, this is due to take place week commencing 4th July. This latest version (3.0) brings some evolutionary improvements to the Quiz Activity, Database Activity , Course Editing, Text Editing, Messaging, and usability in many areas to empower academics and improve functionality for everyone across all devices. We explore some of these updated features in this blog post, but if you want a more detailed look at the highlights then visit the New Features page on the Moodle website, or watch the ten Moodle 3.0 Highlights on YouTube.
Drag-and-drop quiz question types
Four new question types are now available for the Quiz activity, allowing tutors to create word selection and drag-and-drop activities using both text and images.
Streamlined course section editing
Another one for tutors: a space-saving improvement bringing consistency to course editing. When modifying sections of your course now, you’ll be pleased to note the Edit, Highlight, Hide and Delete buttons have all been combined into one single menu, in a similar way to the editing of activities and resources.
Show the date a file was uploaded
A new File setting means tutors can now display the date a file resource was uploaded or changed, giving students a better user experience. This means it is now much clearer to their students when changes to the course have been made and which are the most recent uploads.
Atto editor improvements
Now you can more easily add and configure tables when editing text and there are some new equations in the equation editor.
