As part of the first year mathematics module, we look at the importance of mathematical vocabulary within lessons. One of the activities the students do as part of their independent learning, is to create a display idea for promoting and/or engaging with the vocabulary associated with the four operations within the classroom. They always come up with some great ideas, sharing them on Twitter (#ysjprimed) to share with their peers. Here are some of the ideas which they come up with.

Hello – my name is Peter Raymond. I am the Head of the BA Primary Education course at York St John, having been a primary teacher and Headteacher for 21 years. I teach across the programme, especially professional studies, Geography and two of the year three specialisms.
I’m the person who organises and blog and deals with the day to day running of things. I’m a Senior Lecturer here at YSJ, teaching mathematics, science and computing on the Primary Education Programme.
