Wooden Miniature Bed – Lou Thompson June 11, 2021June 11, 2021 AMY THOMPSON For the project, I wanted to look at the wooden miniature bed, made between 1970 and 1990 with the creator being unknown. From the few ideas I had, I decided to draw this small comic. All of the pages besides the last panel are in black and white, telling the story of two mice that stole the miniature bed from a guarded museum so their family could be comfy. After they steal the bed and celebrate their successful plan, the last panel (in full colour) shows a mother and her two children, sat on the same stolen bed, talking about the story shown before.I had multiple ideas of someone interacting with the piece, this small comic being one of them. I thought it could be a cute story with small anthropomorphic mice. I decided to use a black and white colour scheme for the main part of the story due to it being mentioned in past tense by the mother reading the story, the one page that shows their present day being full colour. I like how the characters turned out, mostly curved and loose to imitate a lot of art within children’s books. I decided to leave out any dialog throughout the comic to challenge myself to show what is going on instead of telling. I wish I could have worked on my colours more but never the less, I do still enjoy the final product.
