Celebrating YSJ Alumni – Jonathan Green
Throughout 2017 we featured a number of York St John alumni across our social media and online magazine who have achieved great successes in their chosen careers, done amazing things in their local communities, or been incredible ambassadors for the university.
Over the course of this week we will revisit some of our favourite alumni stories from 2017, before we start to look ahead into 2018 and the many stories I’m sure we’ll have the pleasure of sharing with you as the year goes on.
2017 was another great year for 2008 Film & TV alumnus Jonathan Green, Who followed up winning a BAFTA in 2016, with further BAFTA recognition in 2017.
Jonathan is part of the small team behind TrueTube, and online education channel, the team won a total of four awards at the 2017 BAFTA’s which is an incredible achievement when put into context of the budget size available to other award nominees such as CBBC, CBeebies, and Cartoon Network.
When asked about the awards Jonathan said, “Our BAFTA success is vindication that we are making quality films that are having a positive impact and engaging with audiences in an insightful manner. As audience’s viewing habits change, I’m thrilled TrueTube is driving forward its online platform that’s free and accessible to everyone.”
In our summer edition of YSJ Family in 2017, Jonathan explained that his time on the Film & TV programme was invaluable, “It helped me appreciate the value of gaining as much experience as possible in order to have the right skills to be useful”.
