London newsletter: July 2024

Welcome to your Summer quarterly newsletter for London campus graduates. In this newsletter, we look at recent events happening at our London campus, share information about new executive education courses and remind you about some of our recent work.

News from our London campus

Student celebrations

In April our London campus hosted a Festival of Happiness and Brotherhood. The Festival brought together students to celebrate a range of different festivals and celebrations, including Eid, Navaratri, Baisakhi, Bengali New Year, Nepali New Year, and Sinhala & Tamil New Year.

Students enjoyed taking part in a range of activities including Henna and Dance competitions. They also enjoyed Nepalese, Bhangra, Garba and Baratham dancing. You can watch a short video from the Festival on the YSJ London Instagram page.

Vesak

Students and staff also enjoyed YSJ London’s first Vesak celebration held on campus. Organised by our Sri Lankan student community, it was a fantastic celebration that got everyone involved! You can read more about it on our website.

Annual Business and Health Student Conference

In June, our London campus held its first, annual Business and Health Student Conference. This year’s theme was “Emerging Trends: Advancing Innovation, Embracing Inclusion, and Creating Impact,” reflecting the forward-thinking nature of the disciplines within the Business and Health Department.

Featuring over 15 presentations from staff and students, as well as a number of poster presentations, the conference was a fantastic platform for staff and students to share their knowledge, network with industry professionals and keep up-to-date with the latest in their fields.

You can read more about the conference on this Microsoft Sway report.

Your alumni community

Alumni magazine

Every year, we produce a free alumni magazine which we send to all of our alumni community. If you live in the UK, you’ll receive yours by post. If you live outside the UK, we’ll send you a digital copy instead.

Please update your details to make sure you receive your copy. You can do this using our short form.

With you we can do more

In May and June we were busy on campus creating a brand new video sharing the impact of alumni-funded scholarships on our students.

In it, two scholarship recipients share the impact of their scholarships on their students. The video also contains an introduction from our Vice Chancellor, and sections from Matthew Taylor, the Director or Marketing, Student Recruitment and Admissions; and Louise Gash, our Fundraising and Alumni Relations Manager.

Summer reunions

Although the UK is currently experiencing a very wet summer, summer is usually the best time for an alumni reunion. We’ve already pulled together some ideas for what to do if you’re holding a reunion in York or Ripon, so we’ve done the same for London too!

Come rain or shine, if you’re meeting up with other alumni this summer, we’d love to hear about it.
