This week the Study Development Team launch a great programme of Study for Success Workshops.
This week the Study Development Team launches a series of exciting and beneficial workshops that complement the work you’ll be undertaking with your English Literature tutors on modules this semester. The Study Development Team comprises of Tim, Jess and Rachel, and they can be contacted via the Student Information desk in Holgate.
The workshops sessions kicking off the Study for Success workshop programme this week are two sessions that will support you in preparing for assignments this semester. It might seem too early in the semester to be thinking about assessment, especially on Modules where there is an end of module portfolio. However, in thinking about approaches and writing every week, you will be able to be well-prepared when the assignment deadlines approach. The two sessions this week will support you working with feedback and with planning your assignments – two skills to be working on early in a semester.
The study development sessions this week are:
• Make the Most of Your Feedback Tuesday 4 February 2-3pm | FT 113
• Essay Survival Kit Part One: Decoding and Planning Thursday 6 February 12-1pm | DG 223
Other engaging sessions coming up include Effective Notetaking, Seminar Success, and Active reading. For those of you taking Literature at Work, the Reflective Writing Session in Week 6 (Tuesday 3 March in Room 133), will be enormously helpful.
As well as supporting you with essential study skills, attendance at workshops presents you the opportunity to learn alongside students from other programmes.
In addition to their extensive programme of Study for Success Workshops, the Study Development Team also run drop-in sessions once a week too and their famous and very well received 1-2-1 tutorials.
You can request a full programme of workshops and sign up for workshops, find out about drop-ins and book in for a 1-2-1 at the Student Info Desk or e: mail studydevelopment@yorksj.ac.uk
