Mobile Journalism Task

For this task I looked at the current obsession with the super hero genre, and spoke with Jonna about why it means so much to her.

Statement:

One of the factors that needs to be taken into account no matter what the task is risk assessments. A risk assessment, according to the Canadian Centre for Occupational Health and Safety, is the process in which hazards are identified, evaluated and then decide on a method in which the Risk can either be eliminated or reduced to the point at which it is most manageable and least likely to cause harm to any one of the crew, or the general public. It is important to not only complete risk assessments before filming, or completing any other task, but it is equally important to understand the risk assessment as this is what stops not only injuries and illness from occurring, but in many cases it also allows a project to meet legal requirements, without which it would be impossible to complete the project. When completing this task some of the main risks involved were caused as a result of shooting in the city centre. This meant that we had to take things like traffic into account, as well as not disturbing the general public whilst filming as this can sometimes aggravate people if they know they are being filmed. Given my project was centred around super heroes that are property of Disney, I wanted to do some filming in and around the Disney store in the town centre. For this I was sure to ask for permission from the staff before I started getting footage for my story.
