SU Interviews Task

Statement:

This was a group task that involved interviewing different candidates for the Student Union elections. As part of this, my main responsibilities within the group were to ensure the audio was recorded correctly, sounded good, and to help set up the lighting as it was desired to be, by the producer. Setting up the lighting involved following the guidance and instruction of the producer whilst making the adjustments to achieve the desired effect with the lightning on the subject. This differs greatly from working alone as it requires that you do what is asked of you to benefit the team and the project as a whole. Communication is one of the most important parts of working within a group, especially when filming, this is because everyone in the group needs to be aware of their jobs and what needs doing in the moment in order to make the project successful. Another part of working effectively as a group is the ability to be able to listen to the other peoples points of views, and as a result of this, being able to concede certain arguments and make compromises with others. This is because within group work, especially in the media, a lot of the points that might be contested are very subjective, which means there is no right or wrong way to do something, it is opinion based. So it is very important within a group to be able to not need everything to go your own way, and be able to work with what another person wants for aspects of the project.
