I have been researching advertising options as a way to generate revenue from my blog.
I discovered the Amazon Affiliates programme and the Google Ads as options, I signed up with both of them and had initial startup issues. So after seeing a technician, I was told my plan on WordPress does not cater for advertisements and that I must upgrade to Premium using credit from my plan but still have to pay an extra £36.
I consulted with my lecturer about this.
If I was to create revenue from the blog, this would be the initial route to take, at the minute I am waiting to see whether I can claim the money from the university as a part of the additional budget (£50) of which I have claimed the previous £36 for a year. I would like to use ads in my blog and go through the process rather than just demonstrate as I feel it would give me a more clear idea of how to use them and the impacts (good and bad) they have.
The information on setting up Google ads stated I needed:
- Genesis themes (see documentation)
- Insert Headers and Footers plugin (see documentation)
- Advanced Ads plugin (see documentation)
- Ad Inserter plugin (see documentation)
So when I looked for this on my plan it said to upgrade to premium for £36.
