Welcome to York St John University and to your academic School – Education, Language and Psychology!
In your School you will find a fascinating range of academic disciplines, including: languages, linguistics, TESOL, counselling, psychology, primary and secondary teacher education, early years education, and children, young people and families. Staff and students in the School create new knowledge about the development, education and life experiences of people in a wide variety of settings, including: online, in school, at home and at work. We are all interested, from our diverse disciplinary perspectives, in how to help these people to achieve their potential and, importantly, how to change society to make their potential more achievable.
I am very proud to be your Head of School and look forward to hearing about your own achievements. We hope to make your time at York St John fun too, by working with your Chair of School and the academic reps to provide a wide range of extra-curricular activities. Please get involved in these opportunities; in addition to your academic work, these social activities are a chance to meet friends that you will keep for the rest of your life, and to experience ideas that will change the way you think about yourself and the world.
Please also get in touch with me if you have any feedback on your experience as a student at York St John, or any ideas for how your experience can be improved.
I look forward to hearing from you!
