During the last year, two hospitals in Cumbria, the Cumberland Infirmary in Carlisle and West Cumberland Hospital in Whitehaven, have made more than £500,000 in parking charges. Patients, visitors and staff have all contributed to this. There has been a 6 percent increase compared to last year – reportedly the money is being put back into patient care or being spent on maintenance.
