Week 11- Ready for publishing

This was the final session of the module.

In the last few weeks everyone had been at different stages of completion of their articles so the collection of everyone’s work was scattered. This session allowed everyone to finish their article so that the magazine would be ready to publish at 6PM. This included many sub-edits and re-sub-edits along with tweaks to the design ensuring that everyone’s work was at the highest standard possible.

Throughout this session my role as sub-editor became essential as everyone’s articles needed to be completely perfect, otherwise they would not be published in the final magazine. As well as sub-editing my colleagues work, I also needed my work proof reading as I wanted it to be at a professional standard. Fortunately, I was able to get three different sets of eyes on it which allowed me to correct any spelling and grammar mistakes. After the last sub-edit, I was confident that I had a reached a professional standard in my article.

After making the corrections that were necessary, this was my final piece.

Finally, the last decision we had to make on the magazine was the front cover. After discussing what we thought about the current one we had, we ultimately agreed that we wanted to change it. However, we had to ensure that the final product met our brand aims and who we are targeting the magazine for. One of our biggest targets was for the magazine to be aimed at people who live in York and the surrounding areas. Therefore, having our front cover representing York in somehow would an effective way to meet our intended target audience needs. One objective we set in the beginning was, try not to use pictures of the Minster as we felt it may appear generic as it is the most famous landmark in York. Therefore, this was a contributing factor that led to the change of the front cover.

This was the developments of the front cover.

First.

The process.
