Bystander Training: The Intervention Initiative is a bystander programme which aims to empower you to become an active bystander, and be part of the solution in stopping and preventing sexual violence in your student community. The programme will be delivered by Nathalie Noret and Anna Macklin, Senior Lecturers in Psychology at YSJ. By attending the programme, you will develop a skill set which will enable you to notice the warning signs for sexual violence, techniques to help you intervene, and the importance of staying safe. Your knowledge and understanding of the law and penalties for different types of sexual violence will be enhanced. In addition, you will develop transferable graduate skills such as communication, empathy and team work. The sessions will be a mixture of discussions, case studies, videos and role play, to help you develop the skills and knowledge necessary to become active bystanders.
