York LGBT Forum will be holding a special general meeting tonight to elect two co-chairs of different genders, a secretary, a treasurer, a hate crime subgroup coordinator and an events subgroup joint coordinator. Minor amendments to the constitution will also be proposed.

The meeting will take place 19:00-21:00 in DG/125 in De Grey Court. If you are external to the university, please see the campus map for details of where to find the building. Our ‘How to find us‘ page might also be useful.

LGBT and the Church – dispelling myths

An informal lunchtime question and answer session/discussion with University Chaplain Reverend Annie Rowley, chaplaincy volunteer Jenni Howard and LGBT Staff Network Chair Dr Fiona Thompson. Annie, Jenni and Fiona will provide a short introduction exploring their own perspectives on the impact of faith on the LGBT community, which will be followed by open discussion with a particular focus on the myths (and real issues) surrounding the Church and LGBT people.

The event will include lunch and take place in PH/011 at 12:30-14:00 on Monday 16 March.

Inclusive Lent group

Annie Rowley

The University Chaplain Reverend Annie Rowley is inviting LGBT Christians to an informal, inclusive Lent group featuring reflective readings from The Risen Dust by Reverend Rachel Mann, a lesbian trans woman who is resident poet at Manchester Cathedral. Annie says her writing combines raw honesty with great spiritual insight.

The group meets in the Quiet Space (CP/006), which is next to the chaplaincy office, 16:00-17:00 every Tuesday until Easter. Refreshments are provided. For more information, email Annie (a.rowley@yorksj.ac.uk).
