York Pride 2015 – do come!

Earlier in the year, York St John University was proud to support York Pride through facilitating its official launch event. This year’s main event will take place on Saturday 20 June starting with the parade at 11:30 outside the Minster and then afternoon entertainment on the Knavesmire from 13:00. The LGBT Staff Network will again join the parade and have a stall – if you’re interested in joining in and/or would like an LGBT Staff Network t-shirt (£5), contact Jo Thompson (j.thompson@yorksj.ac.uk).

If you’re a master baker, we’d much appreciate any donation of cakes that we can sell on the stall on the day – any profits will go to the SPARK scholarship fund. Please direct any sweet treats to Lindsey Stephenson (l.stephenson1@yorksj.ac.uk).

Tying in with this year’s #RaiseYourRainbow #YorkCityOfRainbows theme, Wednesday 17 June has been declared “Wear your rainbow!” day; the LGBT Staff Network encourage you to participate! We also have a limited supply of small rainbow table flags; if you’d like to show your support with one of these, contact Lindsey Stephenson (l.stephenson1@yorksj.ac.uk). University Chaplain Annie Rowley shared the following message:

A rainbow flag will be displayed next week outside the chapel to show support for York Pride. The Chaplaincy firmly believes that we are all equally precious in God’s eyes and will be proud to join in both the parade and the afternoon entertainment. We would like to encourage all LGBT students and staff to join us in this celebration.

For more information on the event, see the York Pride website.
