LGBT Staff Network Birthday Event

I’m delighted to be writing today to invite you to our first on campus LGBT Staff Network event of the 2021-22 academic year. It will take place on Tuesday 9 November from 12:30pm to 2:00pm in DG/109, and I hope to see you there.

As we come back together in person after a period of separation I’d like us to have an opportunity to reflect together on what we want from our Network. When I last wrote to you I had just taken up the role of Chair of our Network on an interim basis; before we move to elect to this role on a permanent basis, I’d like us to use our Birthday Event to confirm what we want from our Network in the future. Our current constitution is available for you to view on our blogsite here, and I’d encourage you to read it before we meet.

This will be an informal event, with an opportunity for table discussion and feedback. Please attend for as much or as little of the session as you’re able to, and feel free to bring your lunch with you. Rest assured there’ll be cake too (after all, no birthday would be complete without it).

Guidance for Managers: Supporting Lesbian, Gay, Bi and Trans Staff at Work

I’d also like to take this opportunity to invite you to review and comment on the revised  University guidance for managers supporting lesbian, gay, bi and trans staff at work. We’d like to relaunch this guidance to coincide with our birthday event. I’d like to invite you to share any feedback you may have on the updated guidance by email to LGBTstaff@yorksj.ac.uk

Best wishes

Jim Irving
