Ann Gregory has had an enormous influence on me personally and on my career. She was Head of Languages at York St John until her retirement in 2010, and was instrumental in introducing the Languages degree programmes here, which were highly innovative at the time. She had a national reputation as an advocate of languages at primary school level, and was equally influential within the Comenius project supporting teachers, and Routes into Languages for pupils, organising outreach events to encourage them to continue studying languages. If it weren’t for her, I wouldn’t be here at YSJ!
