Louise Fillingham – Paula Mountford

Paula was my PGCE History Mentor at the University of York and made me into the teacher I am today.
Paula has created many fabulous History teachers who can be seen walking the corridors of schools in and around York today or lighting up the Twittersphere with gobbets of knowledge and good practice. We call ourselves ‘Paula’s babies’ and I am proud to be in the club. Paula is an outstanding teacher and mentor with an infectious love for her subject and her profession. From the very first day I found myself imitating her voice (not too difficult because we’re both from the potteries), her gestures and her commitment to passing on knowledge. I was inspired by her but also terrified by her – which is how I hope me students think of me!
