In this study, Dr Penn Smith et al., use the creative method of photo-elicitation to explore the experiences of service users who use a novel in-reach rehabilitation and recovery service for people with severe and enduring mental health needs.

Barriers still exist for mental health service users to contribute to knowledge. However, valuing service users’ unique experiences helps to readdress power dynamics and benefits the planning and organization of services.
