UPDATE! York Pride – 18 June 2022
We hope you will join York St John in the Pride Parade this weekend! Everyone is welcome!
Please meet on Clarence Street in front of Fountains at 10:50am on Saturday 18 June. Look for Jamie Andrews, President of the Students’ Union. He and the rest of our group marshals will be there to welcome you! The group will leave at 11am to walk together to the designated assembly point on Blake Street. You’ll then join the rest of the parade, where groups from all of York will be gathering to celebrate together.
Please come and visit the York St John stall on the Knavesmire after the parade too – we will be there from 11am for anyone not attending the parade!
York Pride is back after 2 years away and we couldn’t be more excited!
York St John staff and students will be in the parade from York Minster, and we’d love you to join us. Everyone is welcome – LGBT or not – so bring along your families, friends, colleagues and allies. Details of meeting time and place will follow shorty so for now please save Saturday 18 June in your diary!
The parade ends on the Knavesmire, where there will be a free, family friendly festival. Expect live music and entertainment from the likes of Divina De Campo as well as charity and community stalls, local traders and food trucks. The university will host a community stall at the festival with freebies, cake and games! We’ll be taking the opportunity to talk to the local community about all the great work going on here at York St John.
We are pleased to be sponsoring the event again this year. The University’s support for York Pride reflects a long-standing commitment to shared values of social justice and community spirit. This has always been a fabulous event for the YSJ community to come together and celebrate, and to reach out to the local community. We hope you will come and be part of it.

We also need volunteers for both parts of the event – to help as parade marshals and to staff our stall. If you could spare just one hour, this would be a great help and you’ll still have plenty of time to explore the rest of the festival!
