The Student Loans Company also offers a Maintenance Loan. This loan is paid direct into your bank account in three instalments throughout the year.
This is the money you use to live off. With this money students normally pay for things like rent, commuting costs, food, social expenses, bills etc. This is your money to spend – so spend it wisely.

Most universities will know the payment dates for the Maintenance Loan and time any accommodation bills to be taken from your account a couple of weeks after you’ve been paid.
