We know that Covid-19 has thrown a massive spanner in the works for thousands of young people who are considering university. Many universities, including York St John, are now offering online Open Days so that you can speak to Staff, Students and Academics about all aspects of university.
We know this isn’t the same as coming onto campus and having a look around – we share your frustration. We’d love to invite you to our campus and show you all we have to offer. It’s just not possible at the moment – your safety and the safety of our staff and students is our priority.

Regardless of whether you visit us in person, or via an online platform – an Open Day is still your opportunity to find out more.
Make sure you ask lots of questions to all the staff and students you meet.
You’ll want to go to any subject sessions to find out more about your degree. Make notes, write down email addresses and don’t be afraid to ask questions.
There will be other staff available too – Admissions may be available to talk you through the application process, Accommodation may be there to discuss different housing options, Student Services can chat to you about the support available for students, Finance Teams can help you get your head around the loans and budgeting.
Most universities will also give you the chance to chat to ambassadors – these are current students at the university. They are the ones to talk to about the social side of university, the Students Union, the community and extra-curricular activities. If you find an ambassador who studies your course, feel free to ask about their experiences. Just be mindful that sometimes courses or modules may change and ambassadors may not know about it!
There will also be our Outreach team – we’re the experts. We know the university inside out – we can tell you what makes York St John special. We can talk about our campus, our community, what we can offer you as a student. Many of our team were YSJ students themselves, they loved it so much they never left. Don’t be worried about asking questions – we’ve heard them all before and we want to make sure you’re making the right decision for you!
