Bringing our university to you.

Interviews

As part of the application process for a course at university, you may be invited to an interview. Interviews are popular on professional courses: teaching or physiotherapy etc.

If you’ve been invited to an interview, please remember, no-one wants you to fail. You’ve been invited because you have potential, and whoever read your application has seen something that impressed them. Remember that an interview is an opportunity.

We’ve listed our top tips for preparing for an interview below:

  • General politeness goes a long way – introduce yourself and thank the interviewer for their time
  • Make sure you’ve done your research – and bring your own questions.
  • Be prepared – arrive early if possible and make sure you’ve brought everything you need.
  • Practice answering basic interview questions – and back yourself up with evidence and experience.
  • Don’t assume the person interviewing you is the same person that read your application – don’t be afraid to mention things you’ve already mentioned in your application.
  • Make eye contact, try not to fidget. Take some deep breaths and remember, we’ve already seen something that impressed us, that’s why you’re at the interview.
