The Reality to Beauty

‘The Reality to Beauty’ is an activist project I created to help inspire women to become more confident when it comes to being different. So many people lack in confidence due to the stereotype images on social media or magazines, however a image does not justify a women’s power, makeup or no makeup women’s empowerment should be seen as equal because it is something that has come from the heart of others not the image only created for the public eye. My partner and I thought choreography would be a successful way to express how the image of someone should not change your view on what is deep within, for example people getting judged on wearing too much makeup because it has its tenancy to send off the wrong message. “I believe in manicures. I believe in overdressing. I believe in primping at leisure and wearing lipstick. I believe in pink. I believe happy girls are the prettiest girls. I believe that tomorrow is another day, and… I believe in miracles.”(Aurdery Hepburn) Everyone should believe in makeup and other ways to help improve on the power of women even if you don’t have anything to do with beauty products, all these are the help of feminism showing that women should work together even with the disagreements.

Working on this product helped me as individuals grow, as I left behind the description of what beauty should be but however, created my own reality showing that beauty can be more than makeup and salons.  Children and young people now are fixated on makeup, and making sure their appearance is acceptable for everyone else. This project has given me the confidence to show students how to be powerful without makeup or looking like every other individual.
