Welcome back to the York St John drama, dance and theatre blog UNDER NEW MANAGEMENT. I am delighted to be reprising this blog after its hiatus. Over the coming months I will be writing exciting articles speaking to creative people in York sharing their own experiences and advice for students, as well as YSJ alumni’s who are making a difference in their communities through the arts, and many more exciting topics. But first, who is the mystery new person reviving this blog?
My name is Ruby, I’m a third year drama and theatre student. With a great passion for theatre I hope I can share insight of the theatre and drama scene around uni and beyond! I’ve been interested in drama since I was 13, starting off with acting for school plays and theatre groups, but since beginning university I’ve moved more to focus on producing, administrating and writing. Outside of university I volunteer with York Creatives and work at a local youth theatre. As you can tell, I live and breathe theatre and the arts and I hope I can bring some of this passion to you through this blog. I hope this blog can be a way to tap into creatives in the local community and a resource for current students to find content relating to their work and practice.
Although this first post has been brief, I hope it has shed some light on who I am and is a taster for things to come. Keep your eyes peeled for the next blog post which will be an interview with Kate Veysey, director of She Was Walking Home by Next Door But One.
