Scenario Based Learning (SBL) Modules

Working in partnership with the Teacher Selection Project, we have created Primary and Secondary SBL modules specifically aimed at ECTs.

The module has four sessions where you reflect on authentic classroom scenarios you are likely to encounter in schools. The module has been designed to develop the following non-academic competencies: emotion management, resilience & adaptability, mindset, organisation & planning and empathy & communication. These competencies have been identified as important to effectively approaching various challenges early career teachers may encounter in the classroom.

Each session focuses on a core teaching & learning theme:

Secondary: behaviour management, creativity & innovation in teaching, assessment & reporting, and communicating with colleagues & parents.

Primary: behaviour management, creativity & innovation in teaching, communicating with parents, and working with colleagues.

Information about the SBL module was emailed to our ECTs with our December 2021 bulletin. If you would like further information, please email: nqt@yorksj.ac.uk. Please also see the information sheets below.
