Statement on the crisis in Afghanistan

As an academic community at York St. John, we are committed to social justice and our role in speaking to situations where religious beliefs are used to justify the curtailing of human rights. The current situation in Afghanistan is of deep concern, particularly with regard to the rolling back of the rights of women and girls and religious minorities. Below is a link to a statement issued by the European Network of Migrant Women, which underlines the peril faced by women and girls in Afghanistan under the Taliban regime. Professor Pauline Kollontai has provided a fuller commentary which can be found under the blog menu.
